Justin Sun, founder of the TRON blockchain, today signaled a potential integration of TRX with the Solana ecosystem.
“TRX will be soon on Solana. Ready to buy and collaborate,” Sun wrote on X on Tuesday.
The proposed integration could enable cross-chain compatibility between TRON and Solana networks, though specific details of the collaboration remain unclear.
The TRON network has recently seen increased activity, with active addresses hitting a two-month high. TRX is currently trading at around $0.22, up 5% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data.
The integration could facilitate direct cross-chain swaps between TRX and SOL, potentially reducing transaction costs and eliminating the need for intermediaries.
By leveraging Solana’s high-throughput infrastructure, the move could support Sun’s previously stated goal of achieving zero-fee stablecoin transactions on the TRON network.
Last month, Sun announced that the Tron blockchain would introduce a feature allowing USDT stablecoin transactions without transaction fees.
The initiative, initially scheduled for Q4 2024, will eventually extend to Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains.
Solana faces community backlash over a controversial ad
Sun’s announcement comes as Solana faces criticism over a controversial advertisement addressing gender issues, which was posted and subsequently deleted on Monday.
The video advertisement depicted a character named “America” in therapy for “rational thinking syndrome,” where the therapist suggested focusing on creating “a new gender” or discussing pronouns.
“I will lead the world in permissionless tech, build onchain and reclaim my place as the beacon of innovation,” the character stated in the video. “I want to invent technologies, not genders.”
The ad sparked backlash from industry figures. David McIntyre, COO of DoubleZero and former director of the Solana Foundation, called the video “horrendous.”
“If you want to celebrate America, why not keep the message positive instead of dunking on people and making light of serious cultural issues,” McIntyre added.
“Imagine thinking this is a good commercial,” said Adam Cochran, general partner at Cinneamhain Ventures. “The ‘mind virus’ that’s infected the nation is whatever weird circlejerk is going on in Silicon Valley where people are convinced they were oppressed and that this is cool or edgy.”
