HashPort, a Japanese blockchain firm, has raised JPY1.2bn ($8.5m) in a Series C funding round, led by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners, and Yusaku Maezawa. The funds will be used to help HashPort navigate global regulatory requirements as it looks to expand, as well as to support its blockchain consulting services and public chain NFTs. The company is also preparing to launch a metaverse game, The Land Elf Crossing, in Q4 2021. Earlier this year, HashPort’s Palette Chain partnered with Coincheck to launch Japan’s first initial exchange offering, raising $160m.
